Not too often I prefer a BW over a color (or vice versa) rather strongly. In this case, I think the visual depth you pulled off with the BW is quite something, and I strongly prefer it.

Really well done, IMO.

Thank you Greg,  my biggest concern about the B&W is that the water doesn't look like water to me.  Not sure what to do about that.  I do like the rocks and the light and shade highlighting the rocks shapes but the water doesn't seem right.

This is like going from daylight to night, its seems to take time for my eyes to adjust and make sense of the photos different mono elements. I must admit on first glance I preferred the colour image, however I am now not sure.  Definately an interesting conversion.  Thank you for sharing.

Thanks Alan, looking at it now a couple of days later, I wish more of the rock had sun on it.  I tried lighting the shadows and lost a lot of contrast.  A few more patches of sun on the left side might have helped.
