I did a shoot last weekend for a local Pakistani lady that designs and sells party and wedding outfits in the Indian and Pakistani style.  She had some amazing outfits.  Lots of intricate detail and bright colors.  Hopefully we will get to shoot some more of her stuff.
The shoot itself was challenging, to say the least.  The sun came out at just the wrong time, and the wind was blowing from the wrong direction, but the shoot must go on.  Comments and suggestions welcome.
Canon 5d using Canon 70-200mm/f2.8 lens.  No flash.  I intended to use a reflector but it was too windy, it wanted to be a kite.

Hi Joe,

How do you feel about #1? Personally the pillar clashes with the material.

Great control of the model and very good control of the natural light but something draws me more to the models face rather than the clothing?

Is that a good or bad thing??? Depends on the objective?

Foozen,
I agree that the one brown outfit doesn't stand out as much as I'd like because it is too close in color to the stonework.  I have some other shots without the pillar that probably look better.  As far as drawing your attention to her face rather than the clothing, that is mostly because I posted the shots that were a bit more artsy.   The designer plans to use at least five shots of each outfit on her web page, so some will be full length and some will be close ups.  She does at least one in each series that is more of a glamour magazine style rather than the traditional catalog style.  This is my first time to work with her, so we are still getting to know each other.
Glad you like the lighting.  It was quite a challenge.

Two Color,
Thank you!   I like the sound of that.   Grin
The model is my all time favorite to work with.  She's a senior in high school, graduates in two weeks.

WOW, I think these are lovely Joe! For me the pillar works in #1 as I think the top has a bit of a rustic look to it and actually tones in nicely. I would love to see more of these (love Indian style clothing). Have a K!

OMG  - A senior in high school..  Now that I am over that and having read the previous comments I'll just say these are really nice portraits of a very lovely young woman..  One little nit....  On the first, that little bit of flesh below her left wrist needs to go..

You have good eyes!  I hadn't noticed that at all.  Looks like a little cloning is in order.  Thanks.

Stunning set, Joe. Agree with what's been said. But I do like the first as is (except for the clone). Love the clothes as well.

This girl's stunning, as the others have said, but be careful with her hands. Need to find a way of lengthening the fingers.

Have to wonder, given the designer and your comments, who is the target market for the clothes? Is she selling into the Indian/Pakistani market? Wouldn't an Indian/Pakistani model be more appropriate?

Kev,
Her target market is primarily Indian/Pakistani women, but she also wants to show that the clothes look good on anyone. (wants to expand that market a bit)  We have a second shoot lined up with an Indian model in a couple of weeks though.

Lengthening her fingers huh?  Not sure what she will think of that.  She's already bummed out because the modeling agency she was trying to work with keeps telling her that she has to lose 5 pounds, then 5 more, then 5 more.  She finally told them to buzz off, said she likes to eat.   Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy  Good for her.  I don't see how anyone could complain about what she looks like, and she is 5'-10" tall.  Like I said, she is my all time favorite model, and a very sweet girl, plus she shows up on time, a skill unknown to most models I've worked with.

Thanks for the nice comments everyone.

Does life get any better than 1.  a beautiful model  2.  great on-location lighting  and 3.  the 70-200 L?  I think not.

Well done Joe!
